American Courant is a digital news publisher covering U.S. politics, business and the economy, world affairs, opinion, and culture. We publish across the day on weekdays and run shorter weekend coverage. Our audience is a general American reader who wants news that is accurate, specific, and worth the ten minutes it takes to read.

What we cover

Our beat is the federal government, the courts, financial markets, U.S. foreign policy, and the public-policy fights that touch ordinary households — health coverage, prices, immigration, taxes, energy, transportation. We also cover sports, religion, and culture when those stories matter beyond their own audiences. We do not cover celebrity gossip, viral social-media arguments without underlying news value, or aggregated link-bait.

How we work

American Courant operates as a small editorial team working under the American Courant Staff byline. We use a staff byline rather than individual reporter bylines because our model is collaborative: stories are researched, drafted, and edited by more than one person before they ship. We use AI tools as part of our research and drafting workflow, with human editorial review of every published article. What we don't do

We do not publish sponsored content disguised as editorial. We do not let advertisers preview or shape coverage. We do not invent quotes, sources, named experts, or named individual reporters. We do not use AI-generated images of real people or fabricated documentary scenes. When we use a generic illustrative image because no real photo is available, we label it as such in the caption.

How we are funded

The site is supported by display advertising served through Google AdSense. We do not run a paywall. We do not sell subscriber data. The newsletter is free to join and free to leave. Editorial decisions are made independently of the ad business; AdSense places ads programmatically and does not influence what we cover or how we cover it.
